Fulton, Miss. – The Itawamba Community College women's basketball team improve to 4-0 with an 87-59 win over Holmes Monday night.
In the first quarter, the Lady Indians struggled to find their offense, but managed to take a 16-11 lead heading into the second quarter.
The Lady Indians had little problem finding their offense in the second quarter as they rattled off 33 points led by a 12-point quarter from Che'mya Carouthers (Tupelo).
At the half, the Lady Indians led 49-24 and then held a 35-point lead, 68-43, at the end of the third highlighted by an eight-point quarter from Felia Fayne (Covington, Tenn.).
The Lady Indians outscored the Lady Bulldogs 19-16 in the final quarter to pick up the 87-59 win.
Carouthers led the Lady Indians with a career-high 21 points, followed by Demetria Shephard (Pontotoc) with 17 points. Fayne rounded out the leading scorers with a career-high 10 points.
The Lady Indians will hit the road Thursday for a showdown with the East Mississippi Lady Lions. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Scooba and will be available on EMCC's Live Stream.
