Lady Indians defeat East Mississippi in intense North Division showdown

Fulton, Miss. – Two of the top teams in the North Division finally went head-to-head Thursday night and the ICC Lady Indians were able to outlast the East Mississippi Lady Lions to pick up the 73-68 victory.

The game was a tight and intense battle from the beginning and the first half ended with the Lady Lions hitting a half court buzzer beater to take a 40-38 lead into the break.

In the second half, the game was tied at 65-65 with 2:30 left to play but an Amelya Hatch (Ripley) jumper with just under a minute to play gave the Lady Indians(5-1, 5-1 MACCC North) a slim lead and big free throws from Shomaria Overton (Leland) secured the victory.

A 20-point performance by Demetria Shephard (Pontotoc) led the Lady Indians to victory and Hatch added 11 points.

The Lady Indians will have the first half of the week off before returning to action Thursday night in Booneville to face Northeast. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and will be available on Northeast's live stream.
