Lady Indians win big over Northeast

Fulton, Miss. – With two weeks between their season opener and second game of the year, the Lady Indians didn't miss a beat as the young squad picked up a big 78-47 win over Northeast Thursday night.

The Lady Indians (2-0, 2-0 MACCC North) benefitted from their bench, with three of the top four scorers coming off the bench. A trio of freshman combined for 36 points off the bench including the team-high 15 points scored by Chloe Edwards (Yazoo City).

Ky'Leo Worriels (Hinesville, Ga.) added 11 points from the bench and R'Daztiny Harris (Hickory Flat) scored 10 points.

Sophomore Xhiir Burgess (Oxford) picked up her first double-double of the season, scoring a career-high 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The game was tight after the opening quarter with the Lady Indians leading 21-17, but they extended their lead to 10 points, 38-28, by halftime.

In the third quarter, things stayed close with the Lady Indians holding a 59-40 lead headlining into the final quarter. The Lady Indians then outscored the Lady Tigers 19-7 in the fourth to pick up the 78-47 victory.

Next the Lady Indians will travel to Clarksdale for a game against Coahoma. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
