Lady Indians pull away late to defeat Holmes

Fulton, Miss. – After suffering their first division loss, the Lady Indians bounced back and defeated Holmes 64-52 Monday night.

The Lady Indians (13-3, 5-1 MACJC North) had big production from their bench in the victory as Mariah Holland (Oxford) led the team a 16-point, 10-rebound performance.

Tatyana Norment (Forrest City, Ark.) added 11 points from the bench as well as Shomaria Overton (Leland) who finished with 10 points.

It was a tight battle for the first three frames, and while the Lady Indians held the lead for most of the contest, the Lady Bulldogs trailed by one, 31-30 with just over five minutes left in the third.

The Lady Indians would take a 43-38 lead into the final quarter, before pulling away late to pick up the 12 points win.

Thursday, the Lady Indians will begin the second half of North Division play as they travel to Senatobia for a battle with Northwest. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and will be available on LetsGoICCTV.com/red.
