No. 6 Shelton State pulls away late to defeat the Lady Indians, 84-60

Tuscaloosa, Ala. – No. 6 Shelton State pulled away in the second half to defeat the Lady Indians 84-60 Thursday.

It was a tight game from the jump with and Lady Indians (2-1) held a 15-14 lead at the end of the first quarter, but 33-28 after a strong second frame by the Lady Bucs.

With just over six minutes left in the third quarter, the Lady Indians held a 40-39 lead, but by the end of the frame, the Lady Bucs had took and extended the lead to 57-48.

The Lady Indians will unable to close the deficit and the Lady Bucs picked up the 84-60 victory.

Tabreea Gandy (Starkville) led the Lady Indians with a career-high 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to pick up the double-double. Kealy Wilson (Olive Branch) added 10 points and Xhiir Burgess (Oxford) had 10 rebounds.

The Lady Indians will remain on the road Monday as they travel to Lynchburg, Tenn. to take on Motlow State at 5:30 p.m.
