Trio of Lady Indians named MACJC All-Stars

FULTON, Miss. – Shaniyah Buford, Taneshia Miller and Kaylyn Wilson were selected to represent Itawamba Community College at the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) All-Star Game.

The trio led the Lady Indians to a 21-5 record, the MACJC North Division Championship and to the semifinal games of the MACJC Tournament and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 Tournament.

Buford, who was named MACJC Player of the Week twice, averaged 18 points per game while shooting 47.6 percent from the floor in 25 games last season. The guard from Abbeville was also named to the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament team after averaging 15 points a game during the tournament.

Miller averaged both 9.3 points and 9.5 rebound per game in 26 games, and the 6'1 center from Greenville picked up eight double-doubles for points and rebounds. She led the team with a 60.7 field goal percentage, had an eight game stretch with 10 or more rebounds and was named MACJC Player of the Week once during her sophomore campaign.

Wilson started all 26 games for the Lady Indians, averaged 7.3 points per game and shot 64.3 percent from the free throw line. The guard from Columbus picked up 60 assists as well as picked up four rebounds per game.

The MACJC All-Star Game is scheduled for Apr. 12 at East Central Community College in Decatur with tipoff set for 5 p.m.
