CLINTON, Miss. – The Lady Indians season came to an end after a hard-fought 78-74 loss to nationally-ranked Jones College in the semifinals of the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament at Mississippi College on Thursday.
The No. 13 Lady Bobcats (27-2) made clutch plays down the stretch to hold off a fourth-quarter rally from the Lady Indians to pull out the four-point victory on Thursday.
The Lady Indians had five players score in double figures. Zaria Jenkins (Columbus) scored a game-high 14 points, Miller had 12, and Wilson added 11 while Tabreea Gandy (Starkville) and Shaniyah Buford (Abbeville) each added 10 in the loss.
Jones defeated Gulf Coast (16-10) to earn their third-straight region championship with a 68-57 win.
ICC finished the season 21-5, won the North Division championship, and advanced to the semifinals of the conference and region tournaments.
Buford named to All-Tournament team
Buford was selected to the NJCAA Region 23 Women's All-Tournament team after averaging 15 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
Other members of the team included: Sha'Quandra Carter (Co-Lin); Diamond Wraggs (East Central); Breannah McCullah (Gulf Coast); Kayla Simmons (Gulf Coast); Kayara Jones (Jones); Kyia Weatherby (Jones); De'Asia Dixon (LSU-Eunice); Dayzsha Rogan (Northeast); and Mychala Linzy (Pearl River).
