Lady Indians fall to Co-Lin on last-second shot

ELLISVILLE, Miss. – A dismal third quarter doomed the Lady Indians in their 57-55 loss to Co-Lin in the semifinals of the MACJC Tournament on Wednesday.

After only scoring five points in the third quarter, the Lady Indians rallied to tie things up, 55-55, in the final moments of the game. A questionable traveling call gave the ball back to Co-Lin, who took a timeout to advance the ball, with 2.9 seconds left in the game.

The Lady Wolves lobbed the ball to the backside of the basket, gathered the ball, missed a short jumper, but tipped in the offensive rebound as the horn sounded to pick up the 59-57 win.

Tabreea Gandy (Starkville) continued her impressive week by recording a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds while dishing out four assists and grabbing a pair of steals. Shaniyah Buford (Abbeville) scored a team-high 11 points while Kealy Wilson (Olive Branch) added 10 in the loss.

The Lady Indians will have to wait to see what seed they will be along with who and when they will play next week's NJCAA Region 23 Tournament at Mississippi College.
