Buford, Miller help Lady Indians pull away from Gadsden State

FULTON, Miss. – The Lady Indians were able to shake off the rust of a 26-day layoff to pull away for an 82-68 victory over the Gadsden State Lady Cardinals to open the 2019 half of the season on Saturday.

After leading as much as 15 in the second half, the Lady Indians (8-2) outscored the Lady Cardinals (8-7) 23-12 in the fourth quarter after seeing Gadsden State rally to make it a three-point contest in the third quarter.  

Shaniyah Buford (Abbeville) scored a game-high 24 points, but it was the play of Taneshia Miller that stole the show. The sophomore center from Greenville scored 15 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, and blocked a career-high six shots in the win.

Dalayiah Crawford led the Lady Cardinals with 13 points with Imari Hightower coming off the bench to add 10 in the loss.

The win is the sixth-straight for the Lady Indians and avenges a 79-66 loss at Gadsden on November 13.
