Lady Indians race to 78-57 win over Lawson State

FULTON, Miss. – Sophomore Shaniyah Buford (Abbeville) had a career-night in the Lady Indians' 78-57 win over Lawson State (Ala.) Thursday night at the DEC.

Buford scored a career-high 29 points and shot 68-percent from the floor (13 of 19) and 50-percent from three (3-of-6) to lead all players in scoring. She added four rebounds, a pair of steals, an assist, and block shot to round out her performance.

Freshman Tabreea Gandy (Starkville) had an impressive performance nearly collecting a double-double in her collegiate debut. Gandy scored 17 points and dished out eight assists with three steals, one rebound, and one block.

Kaylyn Wilson (Columbus) and Taneshia Miller (Greenville) each added eight points on the night. Wilson had four assists and Miller grabbed seven rebounds.

The Lady Indians will host No. 6 Shelton State (Ala.) Monday night at 5:30. The game will be available on LetsGoICCTV.com/red.
