Lady Indians stay in playoff chase with win over Delta, 68-54

FULTON, Miss. – The Lady Indians wore down the Mississippi Delta Lady Trojans to pull away for a 68-54 victory to stay in the chase for the playoffs on Thursday.

After outscoring Delta (2-14, 1-7 MACJC North) 15-12 in the first quarter, the Lady Indians (10-7, 4-4 MACJC North) saw the Lady Trojans storm back to take a 28-27 lead at halftime. The Lady Indians' halftime adjustments forced Delta to commit eight turnovers that lead to 16 points to take a 51-40 lead after the dust finally settled on a fast-paced third quarter. ICC kept up the pressure and quick play to slowly pull away for the 14-point victory.

Shaniyah Buford (Abbeville) scored a game-high 20 points while Lauren Fitch (Decatur, Ala.) added 13 and Jaleigha Polk (Tupelo) came off the bench to add 12 points in the victory.

The top four teams from the North will advance to the playoffs, the Lady Indians are one game out of fourth place at the finish of this week's division play.
