Lady Indians come up short against No. 9 Jones County, 75-71

FULTON, Miss. – The Lady Indians dropped a hard-fought, 75-71, decision to No. 9 Jones County Junior College on Thursday.

The Lady Indians (3-2) raced out to a 14-point lead in the first quarter before the Lady Bobcats (3-0) settled into the contest to make it a 22-11 game in favor of ICC by the end of the first quarter. Jones County outscored the Lady Indians in the second quarter to cut ICC's lead to 39-32 at the break.

Trailing 59-56 heading into the fourth quarter, the Lady Bobcats rallied to take a 9-point lead before the Lady Indians made it a 74-71 contest with 48.2 seconds left to play. ICC forced Jones into a turnover but the game-tying three from the corner came up short.

A quick foul and a made free throw with 10.7 left helped Jones County escape Fulton with the victory.

HIGHLIGHTS: Lady Indians fall to No. 9 Jones County

Shaniyah Buford (Abbeville) led the Lady Indians with 17 points and 7 rebounds. East Carolina signee Nique Cherry paced three Lady Bobcats in double figures with 21 points and 23 rebounds.

ICC will return to action when they travel to Wallace-Selma on Monday, November 27 in Selma, Alabama.
