TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 3 Shelton State (AL) Community College Lady Bucs proved why they have been consistently ranked among the nation's best JUCO basketball programs over the past seven years with an impressive, 93-53, victory over the Lady Indians on Thursday.
The Lady Bucs (4-0) raced out to a 14-2 lead before Eryka Williams (Starkville) drained a three to spark the Lady Indians' (2-1) offense to close out the final four minutes and 32 seconds of the first quarter with on a 12-8 run to make it a 22-14 contest in favor Shelton by the end of the quarter.
HIGHLIGHTS
Shelton rattled off 24-straight points and built a 43-point lead in the third quarter to cruise to the 93-53 victory – to smallest margin of victory for the Lady Bucs through the first four games of the season.
Shaniyah Buford (Abbeville) scored a career-high 18 points while Williams added 11 in the loss.
Five Lady Bucs scored in double figures with Tiyah Johnson scoring a game-high 21 points.
