FULTON, Miss. – A strong second half powered the Lady Indians to an impressive 96-55 victory over Wallace State Community College-Selma to open the 2017-18 season in the recently renovated Davis Event Center on Thursday.
The Lady Indians (1-0) raced out to a 14-point lead in the first quarter before the Lady Patriots (0-1) closed on a strong run to cut the lead to 19-13 by the end of the quarter. Selma continued their hot streak to open the second quarter to take a 4-point edge before the Lady Indians answered to take a 37-34 lead into the locker room.
ICC dominated the start of the second half and never looked back as they outscored the Lady Patriots 30-7 in the third quarter before turning a 3-point halftime lead into a 41-point victory to open the season.

Five Lady Indians scored in double figures and every active player on the roster scored two or more points on the night.
Jaleigha Polk (Tupelo), Eryka Williams (Starkville), Kaylyn Wilson (Columbus), and Shaniyah Buford (Abbeville) each scored 13 points with Lauren Fitch (Decatur, AL) adding 12 points along with 7 rebounds and 7 assists in the victory. Constance Dunn (Fulton) had 9 rebounds to go along with 8 points and Taneshia Miller (Greenville) scored 5 points and blocked 4 shots.
Moesha Gayles led the Lady Patriots with 17 points.
ICC will be back in action Monday night at Lawson State Community College (0-0) in Birmingham.
