Lady Indians open basketball season next Thursday

FULTON, Miss. – ICC will open its 2017-18 basketball season on Thursday, November 2 against Wallace Community College-Selma. The Lady Indians will tip things off at 5:30 with the Indians following at 6:30 in Fulton.

ICC will play 11 of its 21 regular season games at the Davis Event Center with Wallace -Selma, Lawson State Community College (AL), Shelton State Community College (AL), Jones County Junior College, Southern-Shreveport Community College (LA), and Mid-South Community College (AR) all traveling to Fulton for non-division games.

Last season, the Lady Indians finished 17-8 overall and won the MACJC North Division with a 11-1 record while advancing to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 semifinals.

Four returning sophomores will lead the Lady Indians this season. Constance Dunn (Fulton) averaged 6.0 points and 2.9 rebounds per game after starting in 11 games and seeing action in all 25 games last season. Lauren Fitch (Decatur, AL) scored 3.6 points, grabbed 2.5 rebounds, and dished out 2.2 assists while starting in six games and playing in all 25 contests as a freshman. Marqueesha Hoskins (Tupelo) averaged 2.6 points and 3.5 rebounds with nine starts and playing in all but one game last season. Kirmesha Oliver (Olive Branch) sat out the first half of the season and saw limited minutes due to injury, but averaged 1.9 points in seven games.

The Lady Indians will have eight new faces on their roster. Jaleigha Polk (Tupelo), Taneshia Miller (Greenville), and Miracle Jones (Amory) were redshirted last season. True freshmen include: Kaylyn Wilson (Columbus), Shaniyah Buford (Abbeville), Che' Curlee (Booneville), Kiara McCollins (Memphis), and Darquazha McClatchey (Independence).
