FULTON, MS – Itawamba Community College's Jabria Pounds was named Mississippi Association of Community and Junior College (MACJC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week Tuesday.

The sophomore guard helped lead the Lady Indians (15-6, 10-1 MACJC North) to two big division wins last week scoring 42 points while shooting 61 percent (17-28) and grabbing 19 rebounds.

Pounds finished the week shooting 50 percent (3-6) from three-point range and 71 percent (5-7) from the charity stripe. She also added nine steals, three assists and two blocks.

The Nettleton native started her week scoring a career-high 23 points and pulling in nine rebounds in the Lady Indians 78-67 win over Coahoma Community College.

Pounds followed her career night with a 19 point, 10 rebound performance in the Lady Indians thrilling 70-66 overtime win at Northeast Mississippi Community College for her fifth double-double of the season.

She is the second Lady Indian to earn the MACJC weekly honor this season, joining fellow sophomore guard Marlee Hatcher (Pontotoc), who earned the award in December, 2016.

The Lady Indians will wrap up the regular season Thursday at Northwest Community College and are in line to win their third consecutive MACJC North Division title.
