FULTON, MS – In a battle of MACJC North Division leaders, the Itawamba Community College women's basketball team suffered its first division loss as East Mississippi Community College rallied from a 10 point deficit to pick up the 64-60 win Tuesday night.

The Lady Indians (12-4, 4-1 MACJC North) held the lead for most of the contest and held a slim 29-26 advantage at the break.

In the third quarter, the Lady Indians extended their lead to 10, 38-28, on an Erika Toney (Horn Lake) pull up jumper. However, the Lady Lions (10-2, 3-1 MACJC North) cut the deficit down to three, 47-44 early in the final frame, before hitting a three pointer to tie the game at 47-47.

The lead exchanged hands six times over two minutes midway through the fourth quarter before the Lady Lions captured the lead for the last time with 2:22 left on the clock. The Lady Indians would pull within two after two Marlee Hatcher (Pontotoc) free throws, but the Lady Lions held on to pick up the 64-60 win.

Sophomore guard Alontra Tucker (Lamar) paced the Lady Indians with 19 points, followed by Jabria Pounds (Nettleton) with 10.

Quantesha Patterson led the charge for the Lady Lions with 20 points, while Tianna Germain chipped in 15.

The Lady Indians will travel to Morehead Thursday for a MACJC North showdown with the Mississippi Delta Community College Lady Trojans. Tip off is set for at 6:00 pm.
