FULTON, MS – The Itawamba Community College women's basketball team picked up a big upset win over No. 25 Northwest Mississippi Community College on Thursday, 91-72.

Sophomore Ieysha Mays (Mound Bayou) and freshman Jabria Pounds (Nettleton) put the Lady Indians (8-2, 2-0 MACJC North) up big in the first quarter, but the Lady Rangers cut the lead to three , 44-41, by halftime.

In the second half, the Lady Indians extended their lead to as much as 19 as they cruised to a 91-72 win and handing the Lady Rangers (7-1, 1-1 MACJC North) their first lost of the season.

Mays and Pounds led the Lady Indians with 19 points each and Pounds grabbed 12 rebounds for the double-double. Sophomore Alontra Tucker (Lamar) had a team-high 15 rebounds and added 8 pounds in the win.

Sara Lyle paced the Lady Rangers with 21 points.

The Lady Indians will close out the first half of the season Thursday as they host Meridian Community College at 5:30 pm.
