MERIDIAN, MS - It wasn't pretty, but a win is a win.

The Itawamba Community College Lady Indians survived a cold-shooting performance and 24 turnovers to pick up a region road win, 54-44, over the Meridian Community College Lady Eagles on Thursday.

Freshman Jabria Pounds (Nettleton) scored 16 points and connected on four three pointers to help the Lady Indians (6-1) improve to 2-0 in region play.

ICC took a 13-9 lead after the first quarter of play, but saw the Lady Eagles (0-6) rally to take a three-point advantage, 19-16, at the 2:53 mark of the second quarter before closing on a 8-0 run to take a 24-19 edge into the break.

Pounds and AaLiyaha Thornton (Hernando) both scored six points in the fourth quarter to help ICC take a 14-point advantage before holding on for the 54-44 victory.

KaShari Gordon paced Meridian with 18 points. Zaida Cox (Ripley) added 11 points in the win for the Lady Indians.

ICC will return to Fulton on November 30 to take on nationally-ranked Shelton State (AL) Community College.
