BIRMINGHAM, AL – The Itawamba Community College Lady Indians survived a slow start to pick up a 55-44 win over Lawson State Community College and remain unbeaten.

The Lady Indians (5-0) struggle to find on offensive rhythm in the first quarter, but managed to lead for most of the opening frame. After being knotted at 7 after one, the Lady Indians began to hit their shots and held a slim 22-19 lead at the break.

After the slow start, Treasure Evans (Horn Lake) and Jabria Pounds (Nettleton) stepped up for the Lady Indians as they came out hot in the second half putting together a 14-0 run to extend their lead and pick up the win.

Pounds led the Lady Indians' offensive charge in the final two quarters scoring 10 second half points and finishing with a team-high 16 points as she hit 8-11 from the floor. Evans followed with 15 points for her fourth double digits performance in five games.

The Lady Indians survived their first two road test but will face another one on Monday as they are in the middle of a four road date section of their schedule. On Monday they will travel to Tuscaloosa, AL to take on Shelton State Community College. Tipoff is set for 5:30 pm.
