FULTON, MS – Itawamba Community College's women's basketball team opened the season with a 75-49 win over Lawson State Community College Monday night.

Sophomore guard Alontra Tucker (Lamar) scored a team high 19 points fueled by a 13 point first half to help the Lady Indians to a 29-22 lead at halftime.

The teams traded buckets in the third quarter, before the Lady Indians (1-0) pulled away in the fourth led by Treasure Evans (Horn Lake), who scored all of her 12 points in the second half. 

The Lady Indians outscored the Lady Cougars 29-11 in the final frame and won the rebound battle 35-34.

Freshman guard Zaida Cox (Ripley) added 10 points in the season opening victory.

The Lady Indians return to Davis Event Center again Thursday night as they host Snead State Community College beginning at 5:30 p.m.
