FULTON, MS – The Lady Indians dropped their third game of the season behind an 84-66 loss to the No. 9 ranked Shelton State Community College Lady Bucs (8-0) Thursday night at the Davis Event Center.

Freshman Jayla Chills (Ripley) scored 14 of her game-high 22 points in the first half before a late offensive surge gave the Lady Bucs a 30-26 lead at the break.

"I was really proud of the girls and how they played in the first half," said Coach Nanci Gray. "They executed everything we worked on extremely well and did a great job of stopping their transition game, but unfortunately, we couldn't carry it over into the second half."

ICC (3-3, 0-0 MACJC North) struggled in the first five minutes of the second half allowing Shelton to stretch their four-point lead into double digits before the Lady Indians could find their rhythm on the offensive side of the floor.

"Credit Shelton, they made a lot of changes that we struggled getting adjusted to early in the second half," said Gray. "A couple of turnovers led to some negative things happening to us and we just couldn't seem to get over the hump after that."

The lead would be too much for the Lady Indians to overcome as Shelton State cruised to the victory behind Kendra Watts' 13-point effort.

Freshman Justice Martin (HW Byers) scored a season-high 10 points for the Lady Indians.

The Lady Indians will look to rebound as they open MACJC North Division play on the road at Northeast Mississippi Community College (3-4, 0-0 MACJC North) on Thursday.

"We look at this loss as a playing an extremely tough team to help us get ready for division play," Gray commented. "We have to put it behind us and focus on getting ready for Northeast over the next three days."

The game can be heard on WAFM 95.7 FM (Amory) and www.fm95radio.com starting at 5:10 with the Davis Ford Pre-Game Show.
