CLARKSDALE, MS -- Ty-Nita Baker (Houston) scored a game-high 16 points while fellow sophomore Ashley Wiley (Jackson) added 10 points as the Lady Indians improve to 2-0 in North Division play with a 76-59 win over Coahoma Community College on Monday.

"Coahoma is a tough place to play," said ICC head women's basketball coach Nanci Gray. "There student section is right on top of your bench and they are very vocal which makes it extremely tough to focus on well-coached basketball team."

Latoya Collins (Jackson) scored 14 and LyTia Coleman (Memphis, TN) added 13 points off the bench.

"Our bench is an important key to our success," Gray commented. "Tonight we were able to get 29 points off the bench, but more importantly they combined to commit only three turnovers which is something that won't show up in the stats that was a big part of our win tonight."

Rebecca Payne (Birmingham, AL) scored a season-high 6 points and Nicole Griffin (Coffeeville) added 2 points off the bench while starting sophomore Ayanna Lynn (Indianola) added 9 in the win.

The Lady Indians committed a season-low 8 turnovers while nabbing a season-high 16 steals on the night.

"Coahoma likes to force you out of rhythm with their press and multiple looks on defense, but the girls were really focused on playing their game and were able to execute well on offense to limit our turnovers," Gray. "That focus showed on defense as we were able to create a lot of points in transition and did a much better job getting second chance scoring chances with 20 offensive rebounds."

Freshman point guard Leslie Robinson (Belmont) dished out a season-high 6 assists while Baker and Lynn added 5 each.

"Leslie is maturing nicely at the point guard spot this season," Gray. "She does a great job of understanding when we need to push the tempo and did a great job tonight in transition running the floor and creating easy scoring opportunities on the break."

Robinson added 3 points and 3 steals in the win.
