
FULTON, Miss. – The Indians' bats came alive as they accumulated 16 hits as a team to take game one over Coahoma, 22-0, at Andy Kirk Field on Wednesday.
ICC opened the scoring in the first inning when AB Marlar delivered an RBI ground out followed by a bases-clearing RBI double from Sadie Stegall. Maddie McClendon posted an RBI triple and she scored after Morgan Green was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Maddie Porter delivered a 2 RBI single and Marlar came back to the plate with an RBI single.
The Indians added three more runs to their lead each in the second and third. In the second, Green tripled to score two runs and Porter doubled to score another. In the third, Ella Duhon used a sacrifice fly to score Taylar Shands and Green plated two more runs with a 2 RBI double.
In the fourth, ICC scored seven runs on four hits to secure the game one victory. Zoe Goodman scored on an error, Duhon added a run on a single, Jenna Whitfield hit a 2 RBI single, Neely Hodum singled to add another run and Kamdyn Taylor hit a single to score two more.
In the circle, Ella Lilly tossed three scoreless innings as she struck out two batters and gave up a hit. Alyssa Clifft opened the game for ICC, throwing a no-hitter in the first inning with a pair of strikeouts.
Stegall, Green, Porter and Duhon each recorded two hits in the victory. Green also drove in a team-best four runs in the victory.
Due to inclement weather that came in the area after the conclusion of game one, game two has been postponed to a later date yet to be determined.
