Indians drop a pair of games at No. 2 Co-Lin

WESSON, Miss. – The Indians dropped a pair of games on the road against No. 2 Co-Lin on Saturday.

Game 1: No. 2 Co-Lin 2, Indians 1

 

The Indians dropped game one against No. 2 Co-Lin in a walkoff.

 

The Indians got on the board first in the top of the second inning after Camdyn Cooper singled on a ground ball to score Chloe McClain.

 

The Wolves tied the game in the fifth after they put a run across the plate on an error. They then used a sacrifice fly to score a run in the bottom of the seventh to walk it off.

 

Tamiya Martin collected two hits while McClain, Cooper, Sammie Day-Jones, Jessi Smith, Riley Tyree and Allie Beckley each added one.

 

Alyssa Clifft was the pitcher of record as she gave up two runs, one earned, on two hits in 6.2 innings of work.


Game 2: No. 2 Co-Lin 14, Indians 5 (5 innings)

 

The Wolves scored 10 runs in the bottom of the third inning to complete the sweep of the Indians with a 14-5 win in game two.

 

The Indians scored first in the top of the first inning after Jessi Smith singled to score Allie Beckley, then Riley Tyree grounded into a fielder's choice that allowed Smith to score.

 

In the top of the second, Tamiya Martin singled on a ground ball to score Hallie Turner, then in the top of the third, Chloe McClain hit a single to put Tyree across the plate followed by a single from Julia Shaw that scored McClain.

 

Shaw finished with two of the Indians' seven total hits.

 

ICC will look to rebound on Saturday, April 13 when they travel to Decatur to take on East Central.
