Indians’ late rally attempt falls short in loss to No. 11 Wallace State

FULTON, Miss. – A late rally attempt by the Indians fell short in a 6-3 loss to No. 11 Wallace State at the ICC Softball Complex Sunday evening.

 

Wallace State jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning with an RBI double and two-run home run. The Lions added to their lead off a pair of home runs in the second inning, and another home run in the fourth.

 

The Indians' first two runs of the contest came in the sixth inning when Riley Tyree hit an RBI single to score Hallie Turner followed by an RBI single by Emma Rose Thompson that scored Sammie Day-Jones.

 

ICC added another run in the bottom of the seventh when Jessi Smith reached base on an error, which allowed Camdyn Cooper to score.

 

Day-Jones ended the contest with two hits while Turner, Tyree, Thompson and Cooper each added one.

 

The Indians will be back at the ICC Softball Complex on Thursday, March 7 when they open conference play against Meridian.
