Indians drop 5-3 decision against No. 12 Des Moines Area

FULTON, Miss. – The Indians couldn't turn the corner in a 5-3 loss against No. 12 Des Moines Area at the ICC Softball Complex on Sunday.

 

The Bears striked first off an RBI single in the top of the first inning, but Jessi Smith answered with a two-run home run to give ICC a 2-1 after one complete.

 

The next run came in the fourth inning when Des Moines Area hit an RBI single to tie the game, followed by a three-run outing in the top of the fifth to retake the lead.

 

Hallie Turner got a run back for the Indians in the bottom of the fifth when she singled to score Tamiya Martin

 

Sammie Day-Jones collected two hits while Turner, Smith and Emma Rose Thompson each added one.

 

The Indians will look to bounce back later in the day when they host No. 11 Wallace State at 6 p.m.
