Indians pick up a pair of walk-off wins over Calhoun

FULTON, Miss - The Indians (16-19) picked up a pair of walk-off wins over the Calhoun Warhawks (12-22) on Monday.

Game 1: Indians 1, Calhoun 0

Allie Beckley reached on an one-out infield single and stole second before the Warhawks could collect the second out of the inning on a strikeout. Tamiya Martin worked herself into a full count situation and dropped a single in shallow left field behind a diving shortstop to score Beckley from second in the bottom of the seventh. 

Alyssa Clifft improved to 3-5 on the season after scattering three hits and striking out a career-high eight in the complete game shutout.

Martin, Beckley and Sammie Day-Jones each went 2-for-3. Day-Jones had a double while Beckley added a pair of stolen bases.

Game 2: Indians 1, Calhoun 0 

Laklyn Nichols beat the throw home from first to help the Indians complete the sweep of the Warhawks with another walk-off win.

Avery Wolfe started the bottom of the seventh with a single to right and was replaced on the bases by Nichols.

Nichols stole second and advanced to third when Martin reached on an infield single. The Warhawk first baseman stretched out to make an attempt to collect the throw from third. Nichols caught the player out of position to make a clean throw home and hustled down the line to score the game-winning run.

Beckley went 2-for-3 at the plate while Jessi Smith adding a double to the Indians' six hits.

Julia Shaw (11-8) tossed a complete game shutout after giving up five hits and striking out four to pick up the win.

Up Next: The Indians were scheduled to travel to Calhoun on Tuesday, but the games were postponed shortly after Monday's games due to weather concerns. The doubleheader will be played Thursday at 1 & 3 p.m. at Calhoun.
