Indians fall to No. 7 Co-Lin in regular season finale

Fulton, Miss. – In the regular season finale, Itawamba Community College softball fell to No. 7 Copiah-Lincoln Community College dropping game one, 8-3, and game two 10-1.

Game 1: Wolves 8, Indians 3

After falling behind early, the Indians (29-16, 16-12 MACCC) rallied to tie the game at 3-3 in the fourth, but a five-run fifth, propelled the Wolves to the 8-3 win.

Co-Lin scored two-runs in the first and another in the third to take a 3-0 lead, but the Indians answered with three-runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Hanna Grace Gillean (Mantachie) doubled to score the Indians' first two runs and Avery Wolfe (Hernando) followed with an infield single to score the game tying run.

Co-Lin took advantage of three Indian errors and scored five runs on three hits in the top of the fifth to regain the lead and stretch it to 8-3.

The Indians were held hitless in the final three frames, giving the Wolves the game one win.

Game 2: Wolves 10, Indians 1 (6-innings)

Errors continued to haunt the Indians in game two, as they committed seven errors as they Wolves picked up the 10-1 run-rule win in six innings.

The Wolves scored five-runs on four-hits in the top of the second and added two-runs in the third and one in the fourth to take an 8-0 lead.

Julia Shaw (Hernando) blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to put the Indians on the board and cut the lead to 8-1.

In the top of the sixth, the Wolves plated two-runs on two-errors and two-walks to pick up the 10-1 win.

The Indians have qualified for the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament that is being hosted by Jones College and will begin Tuesday, May 9 and run until Sunday, May 14 in Ellisville.
