Fulton, Miss. – Itawamba Community College sophomores Sarah Kate Thompson of Myrtle and Emily Robinson of Springville, Ala. signed to continue their student-athlete careers at the next level on Wednesday.
They are both heading to the Gulf South Conference as Thompson signed with Union University in Tennessee and Robinson with Valdosta State University in Georgia.
Thompson has a .343 batting average and has been an anchor of the Indians' infield at second base. While hitting second in the Indians' lineup, she has 29 runs scored, 18 stolen bases, 16 RBI and one home run in 34 games. In her ICC career, Thompson has a .315 batting average with 39 hits, 35 runs scored, 21 stolen bases, 19 RBI, six doubles, one triple and one home run.
Robinson, who is a right-handed pitcher, leads the Indians with a 1.58 ERA this season and has 121 strikeouts in 110 and two thirds' innings of work. In her freshman year, Robinson was selected as a First Team All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and so far in her career has a 1.50 ERA with 265 strikeouts, which is currently second in program history.
The duo has helped the nationally-ranked Indians to a 26-11 overall record and a 13-7 conference record with four regular season series remaining. The Indians will be on the road at Hinds Community College Friday, but will host the final three conference series on April 25, 28 and May 2.
