Errors loom large in Indians' loss to NW Florida State

FULTON, Miss. – A pair of late-game errors proved to make the difference in the Indians' 3-1 loss to unbeaten Northwest Florida State College Friday.

Sarah Kate Thompson (Myrtle) doubled and stole home after Sammie Day-Jones (Ragland, Ala.) reached on a walk, but the Raiders (12-0) got a groundout and strikeout to get out of the inning with minimum damage done.

Northwest Florida State cashed in on a pair of Indian errors in the top of the seventh to take a 3-1 lead.

Allison Brunson continued her dominate performance and struck out the side to secure the win. She gave up one unearned run on two hits and one walk while striking out 13 batters.

Emily Robinson (Springville, Ala.) was the pitcher of record after giving up three runs, one earned, on five hits and one walk while striking out six in a complete game effort.

The Indians (7-2) will face Northwest Florida State tomorrow in a doubleheader starting at 10 a.m.
