Robinson's career day leads Indians to win over Bishop State

YOUNGSVILLE, La. – Emily Robinson saved her best performance for the last game of the Mardi Gras Invitational to help the Indians pick up a 10-0 win in five innings over Bishop State Community College.

Robinson (Springville, Ala.) struck out a career-best 10 batters while giving up one hit in five innings of scoreless work to move to 2-0 on the year.

Sarah Kate Thompson (Myrtle) started the game with a single and stole second before scoring on a single by Sammie Day-Jones (Ragland, Ala.). The Indians would take a 3-0 lead when Rayne Rippee (Sardis) hit her fourth two-run home run of the Invitational.

The Indians pushed across four runs in the third to take a 7-0 lead.

Jessi Smith (Senatobia) walked and scored on a double by Riley Tyree (Trussville, Ala.). Hanna Grace Gillean (Mantachie) singled and scored on a single by Maggie McVey (Blue Springs), who scored on a double steal. Bailey Ware (Batesville) singled and scored when Thompson reached on a single.

Ripee doubled and scored when Tyree reached on a fielder's choice in the fourth. Tayler Bishop (Ecru) scored the final run of the game to help the Indians pick up the 9-0 win in five innings.

Thompson, Day-Jones, Rippee, and Smith each had a pair of hits. Day-Jones had a triple and Rippee added a home run and double to the Indians' 13 hit performance.

The Indians (4-0) will be back in action against Northwest-Shoals Community College (0-2) for their home opener on Tuesday.
