Rippee homers twice in win over National Park

YOUNGSVILLE, La. – The Indians improved to 3-0 on the season with an 11-5 win over National Park Community College on Saturday.

Riley Tyree (Trussville, Ala.) doubled to start the fifth inning and tied the game, 5-5, when she scored on a one-out double by Jessi Smith (Senatobia). Tamiya Martin (Nettleton) beat the throw to first that got away from the first baseman that allowed Smith to score and Martin to advance to third on the error.

Avery Wolfe (Hernando) pushed the Indians' lead out to 7-5 on a double that scored Martin. Wolfe scored when Bailey Ware (Batesville) connected on the fourth double of the inning. The Indians took a 9-5 lead when Ware scored on a double steal attempt.

Rayne Rippee (Sardis) smashed her second two-run home run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning to help give the Indians an 11-5 win over the Nighthawks (5-3).

Rippee tied the game, 2-2, with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first. The Indians went up 4-2 when Chloe McClain (Fulton) and Maggie McVey (Blue Springs) scored on a double by Sammie Day-Jones (Ragland, Ala.).

Julia Shaw (Hernando) replaced Hallie Turner (Southaven) in the fifth inning to pick up the win and improve to 2-0 on the season.

Turner gave up five runs, two earned, on five hits and five walks in four innings. Shaw gave up three hits and issued one walk in three scoreless innings of work.

The Indians totaled 13 hits with seven going for extra bases.
