Fulton, Miss. – The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) announced its softball postseason honors Monday, and four Itawamba Community College student-athletes earned All-MACCC honors.
McKenzie Patterson of Corinth and Kara Hays of Mooreville achieved All-MACCC First Team honors while Hannah Henry of Brandon and Madison Jenkins of Cleveland were named All-MACCC Second Team.
Patterson, who was named MACCC Softball Player of the Year last week, led the Indians with a .382 batting average. She had 52 hits, 49 runs scored, 30 RBI, 11 doubles, two triples, three home runs and stole 24 bases on 27 attempts. She finished with a .981 fielding percentage as the Indians starting centerfielder and recorded 45 putouts, six assists and one double play.
Hays led the Indians in three offensive categories with 48 RBI, 14 doubles and six triples and was second on the team with a .377 batting average. The starting catcher also hit two home runs, scored 44 runs and stole 20 bases on 20 attempts. Defensively, Hays had a .985 fielding percentage with 310 putouts and 17 assists.
Henry, who finished the season with a .361 batting average, had 57 hits, four doubles, two triples and 22 RBI and led the Indians with 53 runs scored and 27 stolen bases. Starting all 49 games at second base, Henry had a .965 fielding percentage and recorded 93 putouts, 74 assists and eight double plays.
Jenkins was a two-way player for the Indians, splitting time pitching and at first base. In the circle, Jenkins led the team with 16 wins and 102 strikeouts. She only had three losses, picked up one save and finished with a 2.50 ERA in 25 appearances. At the plate, Jenkins hit .268 with 23 RBI, four doubles and three home runs. She finished with a .991 fielding percentage and recorded 205 putouts, 26 assists and seven double plays.
The Indians finished the season with a 38-11 record and advanced to the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament, MACCC Tournament and earned the program's first-ever No. 1 ranking earlier in the season.
