No. 9 Indians sweep Coahoma

Fulton, Miss. – ICC picked up its second straight sweep Wednesday with a pair of wins over conference opponent Coahoma.

Game 1: Indians 14, Tigers 5 (5-innings)

It was a slow an uncharacteristic start for the Indians (31-7, 15-7 MACCC) as they fell behind 3-0 in the opening frame, but they were able to find their swing and pick up the 14-5 run-rule victory.

After falling behind 3-0, the Indians scored 14 unanswered runs over three innings. Kaitie Boatner (Guntown) and Kara Hays (Mooreville) led the offense charge picking up three hits each, and Hannah Henry (Brandon) picked up four RBI.

Allyson Harrison (Mantee) took over in the circle in the second inning and shout out the Tigers for two and one third innings and struck out four on her way to second win of the season.

Game 2: Indians 17, Tigers 0 (5-innings)

The exploded for 17 runs on their way to the sweep in the nightcap. Maggie McVey (Blue Springs) highlighted the offense with a pair of two-run home runs.

Connor Stevens (Amory) Henry and Harrison picked up two hits each in the contest. Lexi Brown (Morton) hit a two-run triple and Stevens also hit a triple.

While the offense was rolling, Emily Robinson (Springville, Ala.) shut down the Tigers in her four innings of work allowing no hits and striking out six. Elena Thompson (Water Valley) finished off the combined no hitter throwing one inning and striking out two.
