No. 4 Indians split at East Central

DECATUR, Miss. – The Indians slipped to fourth place in the MACCC after splitting a pair of road games at East Central on Saturday.

Game 1: No. 4 Indians 7 Warriors 4

Hannah Henry and Kara Hays went 2-for-3 to lead the Indians (21-3, 7-3 MACCC) at the plate in the first game of the day. Hays had a double and two runs scored while Henry added an RBI. Hailie Moody drove in a pair of runs with Madison Jenkins, Haylee Alberson and Connor Stevens each driving in a run in the win.

Jenkins improved to 9-0 on the season after giving up five runs, three earned, on five hits with four strikeouts and a walk in 5 innings pitched.

Emily Robinson picked up her fifth save of the year after scattering three hits and striking out two in two innings of scoreless work.

Game 2: Warriors 9 No. 4 Indians 4

The Warriors (16-12, 5-5 MACCC) used a six-run third inning to earn the split on the afternoon with the win in the nightcap.

Hays, Alberson and Kaitie Boatner each had a pair of hits in the loss for the Indians. Alberson had a double and a run while Boatner added an RBI.

Ka'Mya Hampton fell to 9-2 on the season after giving up eight runs, all earned, on six hits and four walks in two innings of work. Allyson Harrison came in and kept the damage to a minimum after giving up one earned run on four hits and six strikeouts in four innings.

The Indians will look to rebound when they host East Mississippi (4-23, 0-8 MACCC) on Tuesday.
