No. 5 Indians sweep Hinds

Fulton, Miss. – The Indians picked up the conference sweep of Hinds Sunday winning game one 5-2 and game two 7-2.

Game 1: Indians 5, Eagles 2

Big hits from Connor Stevens (Amory) and McKenzie Patterson (Corinth) propelled the Indians to the game one win.

After the Indians fell behind 2-1 in the top of the third, Stevens singled to tie the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth.

Patterson would break the tie in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run scoring single, and would later score on a throw back to the pitcher that got away from the Eagles.

Emily Robinson (Springville, Ala.) entered and retired the Eagles in order in the seventh to give the Indians the 5-2 win and pick up her fourth save of the year.

Madison Jenkins (Cleveland) picked up the win to improve to 7-0.

Game 2: Indians 7, Eagles 2

The Indians trailed 1-0 after Hinds scored in the top of the third, but Caroline Clark (Tuscumbia, Ala.) answered with a double that scored two runs and gave the Indians a 2-1 lead.

Patterson extended the lead to 3-1 on a hard hit ball to the short stop and Kara Hays (Mooreville) hit a bases loaded triple to score three runs and extend the lead to 6-1 in the bottom of the fourth.

Clark ended the five run fourth with a single that scored Hays and ICC led 7-1.

Hinds added a run in the top of the fifth, but the Indians were able to hold off any comeback attempt to pick up the 7-2 win and the sweep.

The Indians will have a quick turnaround as Mississippi Delta comes to Fulton Monday for a conference doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
