No. 1 Indians sweep Snead State

Boaz, Ala. – The No. 1 ranked Indians picked up a sweep from Snead State winning game one 11-5 and game two 9-0 Sunday.

Game 1: Indians 11, Parsons 5

It was a back-and-forth battle early in the contest and the Indians found themselves trailing 5-4 after the first two innings.

Haylee Alberson (Hernando) tied the game in the top of the fourth with her second home run of the game and sparked a five run frame. McKenzie Patterson (Corinth) put the Indians out front with a RBI single. Kara Hays (Mooreville) and Caroline Clark (Tuscumbia, Ala.) picked up an RBI each and Hannah Henry (Brandon) stole home.

The Indians added a run in both the fifth and sixth innings to pick up the 11-5 win.

Madison Jenkins (Cleveland) improved to 6-0 this season and Emily Robinson (Springville, Ala.) threw three shutout innings to secure the win.

Game 2: Indians 9, Parsons 0 (5-innings)

The Indians jumped out to an early lead in game two after scoring 5 runs in the top of the first.

Clark drove in two runs to start the game on a double and Alberson blasted her third homerun of the day to extend the lead to 5-0.

In the top of the third, Alberson hit her second home run in the game and her fourth of the doubleheader to extend the lead to 6-0.

Patterson doubled home a run in the top of the fourth, followed by a triple by Hays, who then scored on a passed ball to stretch the lead to 9-0.

The Indians picked up the 9-0 run-rule victory and Ka'Mya Hampton improved to 7-1 this season.

Next up for the Indians in a conference doubleheader with No. 9 Northwest in Senatobia on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
