No. 2 Indians fall to No. 6 Jones in finals and finish as runner-up in MACCC Tournament

Fulton, Miss. – The MACCC Tournament wrapped up Saturday afternoon with the No. 2 Indians falling 4-0 to No. 6 Jones and finishing as the tournament runner-up.

The Indians (36-7) and Bobcats battled for four scoreless innings until the top of the fifth, when Jones plated a run on a double.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Indians had two runners in scoring position after a Katie Rutledge (Manchester, Tenn.) single and a Kara Hays (Mooreville) double. However, they were left on as Jones forced a ground out and recorded the third out on a deflection off the first baseman's glove that was corralled by the second baseman.

Jones went on to score three runs in the top of the seventh to secure to win and earn the 4-0 victory.

The Indians, who won the regular season MACCC Championship, will now play in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament next week in Eunice, La.
