No. 2 Indians sweep Coahoma

Clarksdale, Miss. – The No. 2 Indians extend their win streak to 14 with their sweep of Coahoma Tuesday.

Game 1: Indians 15, Tigers 0 (3-inn)

Katie Rutledge (Manchester, Tenn.) led the high-powered offensive day for the Indians going 2-for-3 with three RBI in the opening game of the doubleheader. The duo of Ka'Mya Hampton (Pinson, Ala.) and Connor Stevens (Amory) combined for seven runs as they both picked up two RBI and doubled in the contest and crossing the plate a combined three times.

While the Indian offense was supplying run support, Hampton allowed only one hit and struck out five to secure the big run-rule victory.

Game 2: Indians 8, Tigers 0 (5-inn)

The Indians picked up the game two win and the sweep behind a six run fifth inning.

After two scoreless innings, the Indians plated a run in both the third and fourth to take a 2-0 lead before extending their lead out to the eventual final score.

Brianna Posey (Florence, Ala.) picked up three RBI with one swing of the bat on her sixth home run this season and Emily Robinson (Springville, Ala.)  drove in two runs and picked up one hit.  

Ivy Watts (Tupelo), Kaitie Boatner (Guntown) and Hampton added one RBI each.

Madison Burrus (Hernando) picked up her seventh win in the circle.

Next up for the Indians is another conference doubleheader scheduled for Saturday at Pearl River with first pitch set for noon.
