Softball ranked No. 7 in NJCAA Preseason Poll

FULTON, Miss. –The Itawamba Community College softball program has been ranked at No. 7 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Preseason Rankings. 

The defending Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Tournament championships are coming off yet another where they went 40-16-1, qualified for the NJCAA National Tournament for the first time in program history and finished second in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament.

In the National Tournament, the Indians finished seventh after defeating Louisburg and Cuyahoga.

This year's preseason ranking is three spots higher than last season's No. 10 spot. Coach Andy Kirk's squad are joined in the top 20 by NJCAA Region 23 foes, LSU-Eunice at No. 1, Jones College at No. 4, Mississippi Gulf Coast at No. 13 and East Central at No. 15.

The Indians will open their 2020 campaign Jan. 31 at home against Jackson State (Tenn.) Community College before traveling to the same Jackson State team on Feb. 7.
