Indians roll over Coahoma in to stay the chase for regular season title

CLARKSDALE, Miss. – The Indians picked up a pair of conference run-rule wins over Coahoma on Tuesday.

No. 10 Indians 8, Tigers 0 in 6 innings

Mattie Meine (Olive Branch) was 3-for-4 with four RBI and a run scored while Hope Harbin (Columbus) went 3-for-3 with three runs scored in the Game 1 victory. Macey Cox (Troy, Tenn.) and Samantha Conley (Mandeville, La.) added a pair of hits as the Indians churned out 10 hits in six innings.

Meine and Harbin both added three steals.

Olivia Burns (Grenada) picked up the win striking out eight and walking two in four innings of scoreless work. Mary Kate Butler (Pontotoc) closed out the game with a scoreless and hitless bottom of the sixth to combine for the no hitter.

No. 10 Indians 21, Tigers 1 in 5 innings

The Indians manufactured 21 runs on 18 hits, three going for extra bases, in five innings to complete the sweep of the Tigers with a 21-1 win in Game 2.

Meine went 3-for-4 with a triple, three RBI and two runs while adding three stolen bases.

Lilli Moore (Fulton), Rachel Sternisha (Olive Branch), and Emma Grace Shell (Nesbit) each added a pair of hits in the win. Kacey Carpenter (Grenada) and Summer Cryder (Tupelo) each had a double.

Kaylee Nelson (Moulton, Ala.) gave up one hit and a run while striking out two in three innings to pick up the win. Hannah Swallers (Olive Branch) walked one in two innings of scoreless work.

The Indians are scheduled to host Meridian on Thursday before closing out the regular season with a make-up game at Southwest Mississippi on Sunday.
