ELLISVILLE, Miss - The No. 10 Indians made an impressive appearance during their first game of the MACJC State Tournament. After falling in Game 2 to the same Southwest team three days prior, the Indians came out for blood.

Southwest struck first scoring one run off of two hits in the top of the first, but ICC responded right back when it was their turn. Mattie Meine (Olive Branch) came up big with a leadoff double and was brought in by a Samantha Conley (Mandeville, La.) double. Macey Cox (Troy, Tenn.) singled in the same inning, scoring Conley to give the Indians the early 2-1 lead. Summer Cryder (Tupelo) hit her 10th home run of the season in the third inning before the Indains score five runs in the bottom of the fifth to envoke the mercy-rule.

The Indians went on to play stellar defense, allowing only one baserunner the rest of the game after their one-run first inning.

Olivia Burns (Grenada) threw just 64 pitches in 5 innings while only giving up 2 walks, 3 hits, and collecting 3 strikeouts. She became the program's single season wins leader by picking up her 21st win of the season.

Meine, Conley, Cryder, Kacey Carpenter (Grenada), and Hope Harbin all went 2 for 3 at the plate coming up big for your Indians in the run-rule victory. Conley, Cryder, Carpenter, Cox, and Joanna Vasquez (Southaven) came up with a combined eight RBI on the day.

The Indians were set to face Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on Thursday, but rain forced Day 2 of the MACJC State Tournament to be delayed.
