No. 3 Indians fall in tight battle with No. 2 LSU-Eunice

FULTON, Miss. – In a battle of two of the top three teams in the nation, the No. 3 Indians were unable to overcome a three run fifth by No. 2 LSU-Eunice, falling 4-2 in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament.

It was everything as advertised in the first few frames as the Indians (41-10) and the Bengals were locked in a tight battle. However, the Bengals were able to take an early lead by plating a run in the third.

Leading by one, the Bengals extended their lead in the fifth scoring three runs to take a 4-0 lead. The Indians answered in the top of the sixth as Macey Cox (Tory, Tenn.) hit a single that scored Meg Sullivan (Springville, Ala.) and Cori Childs (New Site) and cut the Bengals lead to two, 4-2.

The Indians had a chance late in the contest by putting the tying run on second but the Bengals were able to hold on and pick up the victory and advance to the winner's bracket semifinals.

Next up for the Indians is a battle with No. 10 East Central Friday in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament.
