ICC to host MACJC Softball Tournament May 4-6

FULTON, Miss. – ICC will host the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Softball Conference Tournament May 4-6 at the ICC Softball Complex on the Fulton campus.

The No. 3 Indians (39-7) swept Northeast Mississippi Community College (26-21) in the opening round best-of-three series to earn the hosting rights to the tournament after winning the MACJC regular season championship.

The double-elimination tournament will feature three of the nation's top programs, as No. 4 Jones County Junior College (43-3) and No. 11 East Central Community College (33-10) will join Pearl River Community College (25-18) to fill out this year's bracket.

ICC and Pearl River will open the tournament Friday at 4:00 while Jones County and East Central will square off in the nightcap at 6:00 p.m. – weather permitting.

The winners from the opening day will face off at 1:00 Saturday with the losers from Friday will play in the first elimination game of the tournament at 3:00. The loser from the first game of the day and the winner for the elimination game will play at 5:00 with the winner advancing to Sunday's championship series and will have to win a pair of games to claim the tournament championship. The first championship game is scheduled for 1:00 Sunday with the second game scheduled for 3:00 – if needed.

Daily admission to the tournament is $5.00 with only MACJC passes and ICC IDs being accepted for free admission. Concession will be available throughout the tournament. Tournament t-shirts will be on sale while supplies lasts.

The top three teams from the tournament will join No. 2 LSU-Eunice (40-15) in next week's National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 23 Tournament, hosted by the highest-seeded team advancing from the MACJC tournament.
