Springfield earns third MACJC Pitcher of the Week honor

FULTON, Miss. - For the third time this season, sophomore Bailie Springfield was unanimously selected as the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Pitcher of the Week.

Springfield (Mantee) tossed 18 shutout innings to go 3-0 on the week. She had 16 strikeouts and only gave up seven hits and two walks to help the nationally-ranked Indians improve to 22-6 and 13-1 inside conference play last week.

In a 6-0 road win at Pearl River, Springfield scattered four hits while striking out nine and walking one in a complete game effort. The East Webster graduate followed up that performance by throwing a one-hitter where she struck out three and allowed one hit in four innings of work in a 10-0 run rule win over Mississippi Delta. Springfield closed out her impressive week by giving up two hits and striking out four and walking one in the Indians' 8-0 run rule victory over Co-Lin.

Springfield improved to 13-2 on the year after Monday's win over Holmes. She has tossed six shutouts and ranks in the nation's Top 5 in wins.

The Indians (24-6, 15-1 MACJC) are currently second in the MACJC and are scheduled to be back in action on Friday against Southwest Mississippi – weather pending.
