Springfield earns second MACJC Pitcher of the Week honor

FULTON, Miss. – For the second time this season, sophomore pitcher Bailie Springfield has been named Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Pitcher of the Week.

Springfield (Mantee) earned the award by going 2-0 and picking up her first save of the season with a 2.10 ERA (3 earned runs on 10.0 innings pitched) to help the Indians go 4-0 with conference wins over rival Northeast Mississippi Community College and Hinds Community College. The East Webster graduate scattered 4 hits, struck out 13 and only walked 2 batters while going 4-for-12 with a walk, a RBI, 2 doubles, 5 runs scored and a stolen base.

In Game 1 against Northeast, Springfield threw a no-hitter in the Indians' 8-0 win in 5 innings before picking up the save in a 2-1 win in the second game of the conference doubleheader.

Springfield will be eligible for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Pitcher of the Week that is expected to be announced later this week.
