Indians bounce back to beat Snead State, 8-1

BOAZ, Ala. – After dropping an 8-0 decision to Walters State, the Indians bounced back with 13 hits in an 8-1 win over Snead State (Ala.) Community College on Friday.

The Indians (9-3) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning when Samantha Conley (Mandeville, LA) dropped a single between three players in shallow center to plate Joanna Vasquez (Southaven) and Meg Sullivan (Springville, Ala.).

Snead (2-16) answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 2-1.

Cori Childs (New Site) singled and scored on Conley's second single of the game in the fifth and Haley Reid (Batesville) scored on a single by Bailie Springfield (Mantee) after strealing a pair of bases when she entered to run for Olivia Burns (Grenada) in the sixth.

ICC put the game on ice with four runs in the seventh.

Childs started the inning with a single and stole second before scoring on a throwing error by the Parsons. Lilli Moore (Fulton) scored on a double by Shelby Newsom (Cleveland) after entering to run for Conley, who reached on her third single of the game. McKenzie Piper (Pell City, Ala.) singled to score Makenzie Toombs (Ackerman) and Madison Carnes (Ecru) to give the Indians an 8-1 lead.

Conley went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI to finish the day 5-for-7 from the plate.

Burns picked up the win after giving up 1 run on 3 hits and 4 walks with 1 strikeout in 5 innings of work.
