BOAZ, Ala. – The Indians' struggled to come up with timely hits while the defense committed three errors in an 8-0 loss in 6 innings to Walters State (Tenn.) Community College on Friday.
Scoreless through the first three innings, the Senators (6-4) scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings to take a 6-0 lead before closing the game out in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run home run to left-center for the run-rule victory.
Samantha Conley (Mandeville, LA) went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. Meg Sullivan (Springville) added a double with Macey Cox (Troy, Tenn.), Olivia Burns (Grenada) and Shelby Newsom (Cleveland) each had a single to round out the Indians' six hits in the loss.
The Indians (8-3) left six runners stranded, four in scoring position.
Bailie Springfield (Mantee) was the pitcher of record after giving up 1 earned run on 8 hits and 1 walk to go along with 1 strikeout.
