FULTON, Miss. – The Indians (6-2) were unable to pick up the timely hits to overcome a three run deficit and dropped a 3-1 decision to Marion Military in game two to split the doubleheader.

It was a pitcher's duel from first pitch as Olivia Burns (Grenada) and the Tigers' Alex Reed kept the game scoreless for the first four innings.

The Tigers however, broke the scoreless streak as they pushed across two runs in the top of the fifth and added a run in the top of the sixth to take a 3-0 lead.

Down to their final three outs, the Indians started to rally and Hannah Williams (Philadelphia) hit a two out double that scored Rachel Sternisha (Olive Branch) and put the tying run in scoring position. However, the Tigers were able to record the final out to pick up the 3-1 win and earn the split.

The Indians will be back in action on Tuesday as they play host to Snead State (Ala.) for a doubleheader set to start at 2 p.m.
